it cannot be. governor christie postponed it. it will be moved to monday, november 5th to protect new jersey's young trick or treaters. crews were fixes falling power lines. nearly two million households in new jersey are still without electricity today. in reference of how much of the country that means, even if there was one person in each household without pour, even if it was just one, it would mean there are more people in day three of no power in just new jersey than the population of each of these states marked on the map. this is a huge number of americans here. it's nots over, it's not done, it's not past tense. widespread flooding is still present. we talked about hoboken last night. it's directly across the hudson river. it's small but has 50,000 people in it. as of last night, the mayor told through was as much as 20,000 people still stranded in deep, impassable, and increasingly polluted flood waters. the national guard did get to some of those people. we'll have more about that dramatic situation in just a moment. the national guard also arrived in swamped towns. a difficult ti
new jersey governor chris christie on a tour of some of the areas hardest hit. we are also getting a better look this hour at what governor christie is calling the destruction too widespread for words. that includes long branch, 50 miles south of new york city. right now you're looking at a swimming pool, standby, full of debris from a building torn to shreds by wind and water. the sand stripped away and piled in the streets exposing beach heeds. we go south to spring lake, new jersey. that town is over 100 years old. a lot of folks go for vacation and the weekend that kind of thing. the longest portion of the boardwalk in the state of new jersey. you can see the remnants of it at the water line, the pounding surf tore off each and every board. further down the coastline there is total destruction in the beach community of seaside heights, home of an iconic amusement park, and now look at it. something about these images, something about the roller coaster, the ferris wheel in the ocean, it's just wrong. for generations families have spent their summers here, trace gallagher record

donnell in virginia. chris christie in new jersey. even bobby jindal in louisiana. have praised the fact right now there is a close partnership between the white house and the governor's republican and democratic governors. but listen talk about fema. paul ryan, his budget cut -- "new york times" reports this morning. congressional republicans cut 43% out of the primary fema grants that pay for disaster preparedness. remember eric cantor. remember peter, eric cantor, the hurricane struck his district fema wanted to go in there. they wanted more money because of some of the disasters. they asked for more money to deal with the earthquake. even in cantor's district. he said no. we're not going to give fema anymore money unless you cut money from healthcare, you know. so they've been -- anti-disaster relief and again, mitt romney who wants to give it to the states, get rid of fema, put it in the hands of the state or maybe the private sector. can you imagine, can you imagine with this hurricane hitting the coast like new jersey or

did not. there's been a bit of a political pushback going on this evening. governor chris christie earlier this afternoon called out atlantic city mayor admonishing him for keeping shelters on this barrier island instead of bussing people off the island as they did last year during irene. and that's why we have a situation. let's walk over here and show you what the rest o of atlantic city is dealing with. this is an access ramp that takes you up to the boardwalk. so these are the streets of atlantic city down here. this is what it looks like. several feet of water covering the street. and here's where things became a problem. you have 400 people on the other side of the city who decided to ride out the storm and stay in their homes and as we talked earlier today, flood water was coming into those homes and there was no way for local emergency crews to get to them. so they had to mobilize national guard units to get those people out of their homes. things got so dangerous they had to pull the personnel back. so there were a couple hundred people still in their homes on the bay side
